Moved!

I've moved over to another blog site HERE
(http://www.gear2.co.nr)

Cya there dudes.

Still here..

Still around dudes, i'm just busy with some irl stuff, as well as sorting some new video stuff and i'm changing blog location, so all that needs resetting up :p

i've also noticed the YT channel's background image needs redoing now cos of their layout updates.. if ya hadn't noticed, it was perfectly aligned to stuff (took like 2 days), and they've screwed it in under 2 months lol ;) it's a major reconstruction job as well, won't be easy, but i'll sort it soon enough.

So.. anything to report?

Hmm, not really.. i'm enjoying the more relaxed pace of video again thats for sure.

I did love the daily stuff, but unless I shut down the vast majority of everything else (even including editing the videos), I was struggling for time.

There was 3 things I learnt from the month of daily videos though.

1: Shout outs/mentions.. people do like em, it adds something extra to the videos. I like em as well, despite em being quite off putting to read when playing ;) Gonna probably break em off for this week and bring em back next week when i've resettled into sets.

2: Daily content.. this was a big thing for me. I want people to assume they can head over to the channel and see something new every day, regardless of how much or little it is.

Recently, I had that nailed, but for some reason, was pumping out too many videos, which I think was me trying to get games down within a week at most.

In reality, it could be like 2-6 parts a day, and still be considered daily content and worth checking the channel frequently. It doesn't need to be like 22-24 parts a day :p

3: Video amount.. linking into the previous point, 2 hours regular every day is too much. It isn't too much to play, but it's too much to process and upload every day. It also swarms the people that don't have time to watch em all.

So really, I was swamping 2 outta the 3 groups involved (myself, people without time to watch 2 hours a day and people with time to watch 2 hours a day). Kinda senseless when you step back and look at it.

An hourish a day is respectable, and more than the vast majority of what other people do. It's also very manageable and not very swarming.

Ok, so how are things gonna go down from now on (in theory, still needs testing).

1: Dual games. No more 1 game till it's done stuff. Why? Well, here's a rough time table explaining why 2 games at once works better.

Monday - Record first set of game A. Process game A footage, begin editing work.
Tuesday - Record first set of game B. Upload game A. Process game B footage, begin editing work.
Wednesday - Record second set of game A (using comments from last set that've had time to build). Upload game B. Process game A footage, begin editing work.
Thursday - Record second set of game B (using comments from last set that've had time to build). Upload game A. Process game B footage, begin editing work.

and so on and so on.. except for Sunday where I catch up anything I need to, and do the SSO video.

2: No schedule.. as i said earlier, the schedule is killer. I'm naturally rebellious to any kind of schedule, cos it's just not how I work. It killed me some days ONLY doing an hour or two when I wanted to do more.. and other days it was killing me because I had to do 2 hours, when i'd have enjoyed an hour of A game, then an hour or something of B game instead.

The sets will give me the freedom to do as much or as little as I want again, with no guilt over missing deadlines (even though I never did.. i was late like twice, but never outright missed a day, or not without doubling the video time for the next day).

3: Editing. Cuts, montages and captions will be back where and when needed/wanted. If people want uncuts, i'll be doing something like that in the future, but the YT versions will be cut IF (cant stress that enough) it's needed. In some games, nothing will change.. in others, the cuts will make a big difference to before.

All in all, it should be more interesting to watch, and easier on me :] Just bear with me a bit while I move all the pieces around into a picture I like.

Wednesday, 9 April 2008

Morning.. and where was I yesterday?

In deep thought.. i'm considering a change in the format and regularity of the videos.

Recently, i've been wanting to bring the editing back a lot more in videos.. captions, montages outta nowhere, and cutting repeated footage out (such as Nemesis attempts).

Course I can't do that atm.. there ain't enough time.

So.. I think i'm gonna go back to doing sets. The videos will be slightly less frequent, but not so much so.

Whats the major difference between doing sets rather than day by day? There's no deadline for sets..

I'll get time to edit, caption and cut if I choose to.. if not, it gives me time to do other stuff so i'm not restricted in that I can ONLY do uncut/unedited HTSFs cos i'm needing 2 hours of it on YT every day.

Pretty much the easiest way to picture it, is about 4 x 2 hour sets a week, rather than the current 6 x 2 hours a week.

Though it could work out more time as well, purely depending on the game and how look I wanna play.. i've got a days gap between needing to upload now, so i'm free to do 4 hours in one shot then have the time to edit/upload it if i wanted.

Anyway, if I record anything today, i'm gonna only do a primary mention I think.. i've got some ideas I wanna try out and i'd rather focus on that today. Comments/shout outs aren't gone btw, just gonna be sparse atm while I change some stuff up. In the future i'll still do mentions of what people have said etc, but it'll be between sets rather than days.

Overall, i've clung to the 100% unedited videos rule, and because of no editing time (or little) of such on them, its made me go quantity over quality I think. The irony being I like editing and ain't that bad either.

I'm gonna be changing blog location soon as well.. once i'm done with the new one i'll let ya know.

The new blog has more bells, has a plentiful supply of whistles and has all the podcasting stuff. So it should be pretty sweet.

Later dudes.

G'Night..

Well YT has sabotaged my chain of videos once again.. whats with their maintenance recently?

Anyway, part 9 reported as being uploaded just before the maintenance hit, so hopefully, it'll have uploaded.. it's the last part that's pure Nemesis fighting, so as soon as I can upload again, it'll be into something new.

Not for long though ;) he comes back stupidly fast.

What's kinda lame is, I didn't even get half way through the amount of videos.. i'm gonna struggle to get every part uploaded before I wanna play again tomorrow, so i've got 2 options:

1: play on as normal while it uploads, but peoples comments will be a mile behind.
2: halt playing until Wednesday

I dunno which i'll chose atm.. i'm covered whatever I pick, because there's 2 days worth of footage anyway, so i've still done the 2 hours a day..

and if I choose to play, well that's fair game as well really, as there is enough comments to mention, and if I FORCE myself to not go above the 2 hours on Tuesday, then people will be able to catch up before Wednesday anyway, cos i'll mostly be locked in another Nemesis scrap tomorrow for the majority of it I bet.

Either option is fine I guess.. but I would like to power through RE3 due to the added task of taking down Nemesis, so I am leaning towards one more than the other.

We shall see anyway :]

Night.

Uproading..

Intentional typo there in honor of Mei Ling's saves.. I kinda miss hearing her, rather than just saving via some inanimate type writer ;)

Anyway, i'm uploading now, and I suspect it's gonna be a pretty heavy stream over the next 12-16 hours.

Todays comment mentions..

Not really comments, as obviously with every starter day to a new game, there's no previous day comments to use.. but these were the 2 pms I received about RE3:

donkeysraliens -
Get the STARS card:
When you first encounter Nemesis outside the police station, choose to fight the monster. Then run to brad's body and search him for the card case. Check the item and you will get a STARS card. You can use that in the computer in the main hallway for the safe code

Grenade launcher:
Use the S.T.A.R.S Card in the computer in the main entrance of the Police Station. When you get the S.T.A.R.S Emblem Key, go to the S.T.A.R.S Office. When you are in the office, go to the big locker next to the out-of-commission message receiver. Open the locker and you will get a Grenade Launcher. you find the Magnum in the big locker. In this situation, the Grenade Launcher may be found in the Sub-Station.

Killing Nemesis:
If you can, try and kill(disable) Nemesis at every opportunity you get. Every time you manage to kill him, he will drop an item for you. The items he drops are as follows. 1st time :
Eagle part A
2nd time : Eagle part B
3rd time : 1st Aid Kit
4th time : M37 part A
5th time : M37 part B
6th time : 1st Aid Kit
7th time : Unlimited Ammo Kit

Get the Rocket Launcher:
To get the rocket launcher, you must first defeat nemesis in the garbage disposal area to get the card key, then take the facility key to the machine that is next to the place where you put in the water sample. Use the facility key in the ultraviolet ray machine and it will put codes on it. You can the return to the room with the steam coming out of the pipes and go on the elevator. Use the facility key at the door at the end and you will get the Rocket Launcher

SA8TER -
Here a rundown on the dodging system.
I think you know how to use the dodging system but here are some tips.
Press the aim button before the enemy attacks and you will dodge. If your already aiming press the shoot button right before the enemy attacks and it will do the same. Pistol and Knife are the best weapons to dodge with.

If you pick up all the files you get Jill's diary. One file is all the way at the beginning when you go back for some supples.

Also when you go back for supples you will get another crank. It is used in the back of bar were you first see Brad that little area before you enter the bar. In the supply closet there are granade rounds.

If your playing on Hard mode you want to kill Nemesis because he drops Gun parts (that can be combined into better weapons), F-aid packs, M16, and one other thing I cant think about right at the moment.

Here some info on Nemesis as well.
If you go to the restaurant first hide in the kitchen free knockdown of Nemesis
Heres diagram of the Gun powder mixing list. Notice that you can make enhanced ammo. Its very powerful but you can only use it in the normal weapons not the ones that Nemesis drops after he is defeated.

When you go to the gas station to get oil (if you are with Carlos...if you want to do that you need to go there right after you get the wrench) Don't go out after he fights the mob of Zombies and a funny thing will happen when you leave the gas station. Well its not really funny but it is to me.

When you first encounter Nemesis in the court yard choose to fight him and run over to Brad's body and pick up his card case and then you can skip a whole part of going and getting Jill's ID.

I hope this info helps OTG. Cant wait for the RE3 HTSF and the rest of Metal Gear Solid HTSF.

VERY late uploads today..

Title says it all.. RE3 ran over something fierce ;)

Morning dudes, let RE3 begin!

The last PSX RE game week hath begun..

G'Night..

Not many updates to the old blog today, but as I said earlier, I had a lot of stuff going on, then the last part of the SSO video was being VERY awkward due to the graphic visualizer..

Seems simple doesn't it, but that insane amount of movement really does screw up renderers cos of fast and rapid/constant changes..

I was also trying to reply back to comments and pms (still didn't get em all, and I aint had time to video response link the day 6 mgs videos yet either).

Good news though, I got RE3 running perfect.. as in, every bit of fmv, cutscene and talking is 100% perfect, an improvement over the old RE videos (if you remember, the first introductions never had sound, it'd say one word then cut off)..

That means we're all set for RE3 to start today (Monday).. which i'm sure will please a lot of people, including me.

RE3's my fav PSX RE, so i'm looking forward to it :]

Night dudes..

oh, as you can tell from this post time, my sleep patterns slipped back a few hours.. so i'll not give y'all an exact time for when videos will go up tomorrow, but expect it after 7pm+ my time (GMT) for sure.

Uploading and OTG vs MGS

SSO #2's uploading now, shouldn't take long as they're quite small with being primarily static images.

donkeysraliens did the full OTG vs MGS video, check it out as it does indeed, rock the socks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erwwpJQsRu8

Also, apologies to PandaSquared.. I meant to give him a primary mention today.. I actually do give him the mention at the end, but it wasn't at the beginning as promised.

However, it did give me a good idea for those rare days when two people (I can't ever see there being more than that) need primary mentions.

See the video description on SSO #2 for a more detailed explanation..

Morning dudes? and SSO #2

It ain't really morning but what the hell ;) SSO #2s done, just needs splitting, rendering, and uploading.

Couple of hours at most dudes.

G'Night dudes..

Time for some sleep m'thinks.. apologies about parts 12 and 15, even though it was neither intentional, nor my fault really :]

As I said in the comments, if part 15 isn't sorted when I wake up, i'll reupload it, which should fix it, albeit put my video chain outta whack which sucks, but ah well, better than it not being there at all.

Thanks YouTube, thanks ;)

Night.

MGS 1 day 6, you were an honorable foe...

Well, all the footage has been rendered, converted, and queued to upload.

Jesus, it took some effort though.. I enjoyed doing a double shift (4+ hours rather than 2) on Friday, but damn, the rendering/splitting work has seriously drained the hell outta me today.

Rendering is a weird process.. it's not like watching paint dry, or grass grow, but it does have an anesthetic like quality, in that if you spend a long time doing it, it does make you tired. That's down to the fact yer not concentrating on doing anything, yet you have to babysit and wait for the stuff to output so you can convert it, then queue it up (including descriptions).

Basically, for the past two weeks, i've gone from 1 hour a day, to about 1.5 hours, and then to 2 hours and beyond.. factor in other stuff, such as the blog and audio blog bits on top of the increased work load, and i've slowly had my reserves depleted away.

What's the best way to finish off 2 weeks of rapidly increasing work? Why, to more than double the playtime one day (not even factoring in the time I spent getting that second MGS disc going), and more than double the rendering time the following day ;)

It sounded like a good idea at the time :P

I do enjoy a good challenge though, and the final set of MGS videos was truly that, a titan of recording and editing.. the most i'd ever done before this, was about 3+ hours of IWBTG (the unreleased set y'all ain't seen yet), and even then, I didn't process all the footage straight away.

All in good fun though.. all in good fun.

Locked and loaded..

12 parts are either uploaded/uploading/queued, so i'm gonna nip out a couple of hours.. i'll be back before everythings finished uploading, so fear not, i'll pickup where I left off and the remaining parts will stream in behind the current ones without interruption..

I could've said nothing and nobody would've known, but as always, I like to inform people as to whats happening :]

Morning dudes and MGS day 6 uploading..

Well, it's not uploading yet, but it will be in like 10 minutes :p

Night dudes..

Topic says it all, i'm gonna go grab some sleep while this footage processes, then start parting and uploading it in the morning.

I get the feeling i'll wanna play something tomorrow (or today even), but I think it'd be best to leave it on Saturday, allowing people time to catch up if they want to, and fire up RE3 on Sunday instead.

Night!

MGS completion/G'Night?

As some of ya may have seen from the YT channel (apologies for not saying so here), I had a change of plan from the post below.

I could smell the end, and I couldn't let it go.. so I finished the game there and then ;)

So, i've now got 4.5 hours worth of MGS' finale, which i'm processing as I type this.. it's gonna take a while though guys.. probably like 3-4 hours.

As ya mighta guessed, that means no videos tonight, but it does mean there's actually more videos than usual across Friday/Saturday, so I think that's fair enough really.

Soon as the videos are able to be split, and uploaded, they will be. So expect them to start streaming in early Saturday morning and pretty constantly throughout the entirety of Saturday.

Depending how well that goes, I may start RE3 on Saturday too.. no promises though. If I don't start it Saturday, I will start it Sunday though, along with the Sunday Shout Out video.

There's also a couple of Portal videos coming as well.

As ya can see, I was hesitant to finish MGS all in one shot today, but not only does the extra time make up for it, chances are, there'll be a helluva lot more videos over the space of the weekend than there would be normally, so any guilt I had about attacking the end of the game right there, with no help from people, was pretty much instantly relieved :]

Well guys, i'm gonna go eat and take a well earned break.. i'm gonna need it with all the work that's ahead of me.

Think i'll grab some sleep while I wait for the footage to be usable as well, so I guess it's good night, cya early Saturday.

MGS day 6 comment mentions..

weirdnamemike - primary mention, figured the audio quality was better.. just beat out link by like 30 minutes
weirdnamemike - I think I was the one who said crawling gets you claymores, but whatever.
Billybobjr - wrong way :P, you need to go back to the broken evelator, the stairway to the right is clear after the otacon cutscene.
SpiffyDresser - not a dude, sorry!
finalfuu - liquid snake sounds like one of the blood elvs from World of warcraft.
lulzorking - She's not really Russian. She's Kurdish.
SkittlesShott - your good at mashing buttons but i'm better! lol i just altered a starfox quote XD
SkittlesShott - kenyan guards eh? XD
Termin - Don't feel bad about the monologue form Ocelot, it seems that every MGS character has to give out there life story at one point or another....
raptor - god damn your cliffhangers, you got a bomb on you and you end it, damn you
SavageHoax - ahhhh, I see what you did wrong there. you cant use the ketchup while the guard is watching you or he knows its not real blood, but if you use it while he's out of the room, or asleep like he is there now, its all good.
Pinkfurryone - *psycho mantis* You must beat Sonic 2....
lionheart - OTG, make sure u keep body armour on in most of ur battles, its well worth it. Plus uve gotta battle with wolf again soon, u can either use psg1, or nikita launcher, the latter being easier to kill her
Osaka - Hmm...wonder if that's the same rope that Barry promised to bring all the way back in RE 1
splank - i love watchiong your vids OTG. i litrally click refreash to see if another part has uploaded lol.
SavageHoax - use mines on Raven 2nd fight
lucas - On the snowey sniper battle, head for the bottom right corner behind a small hill, then use your nikita missiles to punish Sniper Wolf, and when your directing the missiles, hold the 1st person view and have a quick look around to see where she is. =D
SkittlesShott - ah ok heres the secret it may/may not work with some vids but if you add a &fmt=18 at the end of a video link it'll add higher quality to it example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfQIlD3N9Gc&fmt=18
darthtenchi / wam / LukeDShadow - wanted a shoutout

MGS day 6 delay..

Today's videos are gonna be up a bit later than usual guys.. the second cd switch caused me some trouble, but I got it fixed.

I'm puzzled as to why there isn't a lot of people complaining about this.. i've got the newest epsxe, and everything runs fine, so why isn't there more people running into the cd swap problems like me?

Personally, I get the feeling a lot of people give up getting MGS to run on a psx emulator, because it did take me quite a while to get it running, and even then, the FMV is still screwed as you guys saw.. it's notorious for being a swine :p

Either way, it's sorted, and bar the chipmunk FMVs, we should be good to go for the gold.

Morning dudes..

That was one nice breakfast..

G'night dudes..

Time for some sleep.. no huge ass ramble tonight, i've left it a bit late for that ;)

Surprisingly, i've seen every video upload tonight.. combination of being up later, and uploading a bit earlier.. which is strange because I actually could've started uploading about 2 hours earlier if I hadn't fallen asleep earlier.

More MGS tomorrow, and then on Saturday, I may do what I proposed last week, as I think I was onto something..

To give both myself, and people a break, I may devote Saturdays just to any old random game I feel.. could be Doom, Mario Kart, an old adventure game, anything.

The only problem is, I fore see people liking that game, and wanting me to finish it, leaving loadsa different HTSFs in limbo, as I had a month or so ago.

Now, I can, and with exception of IWBTG, did, finish em.. but it's a serious juggling act, and it's much cleaner, and more controlled, to do it the way i've been doing recently, ie, 1 game at a time.

So I dunno.. I might call it selfish saturday, and either play the game i've been playing all week, or play something totally random that I fancy :]

Just an idea anyway, we shall see.

Night dudes.

Queued..

Part 6 has about 25% left to go, and all the remaining 6 parts are queued up now..

MGS was pretty damn varied today, from sniping, to torture, to a spiraling tower of massacre and even some HIND avoidance/rappelling :p

Definitely enjoying MGS, if i'd known the story, and even the gameplay itself was as awesome as it was, i'd have finished all of em much much sooner.

Ah well, at least it's been something new to play :] there's certainly been a shortage of good, new PC games of late.. granted it's not a PC game, but i'm playing it on the pc, so it counts ;)

My only gripe is also it's best point.. the length of the story told via the codec. The codec really is great, but it's also very long winded at times.. personally if I was playing and not recording, I wouldn't have a bad thing to say, because it certainly beats RE's file system.. but as far as commentary/recording goes, it certainly does ramble on sometimes ;)

Looking forward to another couple of hours tomorrow, and hopefully that second disc, so I ain't fearing some 3 week long epic.

Time for a break.. got a sandwich with my name on it, and some Sharpe.

Uploading.. Zzzz

Whoops, 1 hour refresher sleep = 2.5 hours...

Todays comment mentions..

Here we go, today's comment mentions.. there wasn't an awful lot today, obviously due to YT's maintenance disabling anyone commenting (even removing some comments as it has to some of mine), as well as stopping parts 11/12 from being uploaded :P

No worries though, there's still plenty of MGS time left it seems.. STILL ain't on that god forsaken second disc yet!

Morning dudes and MGS day 4 parts 11/12

Both parts 11/12 are uploaded now, blame YT for the delay cos both parts did register as being uploaded, but didn't show up..

I'd like to propose a minutes silence for our fallen comrades, part 11 and 12, which were lost in battle, never to be found.

Wednesday, 2 April 2008

G'Night? Not quite yet..

My sleep pattern's slipped a little due to the mobile phone being an hour backwards :P so i'm shitload more awake than I would be normally.. it's the last blog entry for tonight though.

Speaking of which, i've REALLY missed the text blog entries.. the audio is great, and it does make things different, but it's a proper whore to update the text once you've submitted yer audio/description.. if I wanna add/update text, i'd have to delete the audio entry here, edit the text on Hipcast, and resubmit it here, meaning any comments would be lost..

Anyway, what i'll be doing from now on is, all text comments that i've used in that day's videos will get their own separate post like I was doing last week (but forgot this week, oops), the audio logs will be as they've been, and the 'G'Night' posts will be where I do my major text rambles.

I mean, if i'm really gonna go into detail on something, i'll probably just do it in text form, because it's easier for people to understand (such as the process of making the videos post I did last week).. but otherwise, as you've seen today, it'll be audio logs with minimal text, a post full of the days mentions, and a post like this at the end rambling on.. and on.. and on ;)

So, wanna know how today went?

Fucking flawless.. no joke, the recording went fine, with once again, 0 dropped frames (resulting in no desync, booyah), everything rendered perfect first time (huffy has given me a bit of trouble recently, it'll render fine, but once I try convert it to divx, it'll error, requiring me to rerender that part again) and I got everything done before midnight!

In the future, i'm gonna seriously try and get times that the first part of a day hits much, MUCH sooner than like 7/8pm UK time, as it's fine for the US etc guys, but even though i've had zero complaints from Europe dudes, I do highly suspect it's far too late, especially if they wanted to watch the entire set that night.. they'd be up till about 3am at least ;)

That's where some more cash comes in.. it'll fuel a better connection and a better pc (in combination with some of my own cash obviously) eventually, both of which will increase the speed of delivery 10 fold at least imo.

Firstly, the connection. As I said in yesterdays video, i'll be able to upload 10 parts in the time i'd usually upload 1.. so when you'd see that first part at the moment, you'll see another 9 parts along side it at the same time near enough.. shit hot or what?

and the PC.. this is gonna require some saving by myself for sure, because the main part I need is the CPU.. it's gotta be a quad core.. why quad core? because rendering is PURELY down to the CPU, nothing else really, and that quad core will DESTROY the HTSF videos.. it'll chew em up, and spit em out like a factory production line.. what takes me 15 minutes to render/convert, will take like 3 minutes at best, a 5 fold speed increase..

Combine these two together, and damn, we got ourselves a war on gaming commentary.. i'd be sure to accept any challenge from anyone to compete for quality, speed, and regularity that's for sure ;)

But alas, that's a few months away yet.. i'll get the connection either at the end of this month of next, which is without a doubt the main priority atm.. I can live with the render times atm, but that's because I can't upload faster than I can render. I highly suspect once I get that juicy ass upload, i'll be thirsting for the PC to match it.

Shouldn't take too long though, between the blog, some other ideas and some poker savings i've been putting aside, I think we can get it in the space of a few months comfortably.. after all, I don't need more HDD space, monitors, or equipment etc.. it's just that CPU, and -maybe- a half decent graphics so that I can keep this average one in here. Doesn't need to be anything special really, a sub 100 pound affair would be overkill. Only reason i'd pay 100 or at MOST 200, is purely so I could play any new PC games that present themselves while recording and not losing frames.. it's certainly bottom of the priority list anyway.

Onto a totally unrelated subject, donkeysraliens made a video for me today. It was both funny and surreal to me at the same time.

It's the first video that i've seen involving me, but not by me. Even though obviously it was my voice, for the first time with my work, I got to see it almost from a third person view, and it made me laugh, which I rarely do at my own videos.. that's not because they aren't funny, but i've known myself 25 years, so obviously the novelty wears off after a while ;)

Seeing a video i'd done, presented and repackaged in a different form, then shown back at me, did change that though, and it was most certainly a refreshing change.. cheers dude.

Part 5 of todays 12 just finished uploading.. well, it finished a while ago I think cos part 6 is now on 60% ;) but y'know what I mean.. all the other parts are in line behind it, and i've got the taste for a good old sandwich while watching some Sharpe in mind, so i'll wrap this up.

Night dudes, enjoy the videos..

oh, you'll notice i've changed '1+ hours each day' on the description to an epic 2+ hours now.. I figure it wise because I can handle it, people seem to want it, and it stops me constantly whining i've run over the hour so badly, when it seems there's a 75%+ chance i'm ALWAYS going to ;)

(Sharpe's a UK drama with Sean Bean (the LOTR dude, Boromir I think) during the Napoleon war times.. awesome shit, i've always loved the series, and I bought the box set years ago.. it cost 100 quid, but it was worth it)

Uploading and HTSF MGS trailer..

G'Night..

8 parts are viewable and the last 6 are queued/uploading.. the last 2 are a bit shorter than usual though, it was just how the splitting went.

you'll notice theres no audio for this one, it'll be the same with every 'G'Night' blog entry, cos obviously it's late at night and i'm too knackered to be recording a decent audio for the post really ;)

plus as i've said before, my voice can raise the dead sometimes, so i'll not harass the neighbors with it at 1:24am ;)

Uploading..

the vids are uploading now.. as i said in the first vids description, i hope yer sat comfy dudes, cos it's gonna be a long one.. it ain't even long cos of rambling either for once ;)

MP3 File

MGS recording done...

jesus wept, well the recording for days MGS vids are done, but damn, its about TWO hours long, and the bloody emulator crashed at the first FMV sequence near the first hour mark.. suckage.

got it sorted in the end with some ninja like memory card/plugin copying to EPSXE, as PSXEVEN seems to throw a complete fit with MGS's FMV.

as i say, no worries though, got it done.. gonna take ageeeees to render and split all todays stuff though, and it's gonna be epic long.. probably the longest set of videos since i started doing the daily routine.

i'll let ya know once the upload starts.. videos usually appear on youtube about an hour after i say i'm uploading if you were curious.

Morning Dudes..

morning dudes.. i actually woke up about 2 hours ago, but i've been eating then messing around with this audio blog stuff blah blah blah..

it's pretty nifty though i gotta say, and spices the old text up a bit.

anyway, short and sweet for the first one, cos i'm fuckin dying to play some MGS, and i still need to gather comments which usually takes 20-30 minutes, so i'll shut up and get started.. oh, i need to reconfigure my joypad in the emulator as well as it appears my shoulder buttons are a tad off.

later dudes, as always i'll let ya know when i've finished recording, and when i'm starting to upload.

G'Night..

Night dudes.. hope ya enjoyed the SSO vids, as well as a look through some of all the old vids i've done.. certainly made for a nice change of pace.

MGS goes into full swing tomorrow, and personally if the SSO vids hadn't run up close to an hour, I seriously think i'd have done another wave of MGS today, cos i'm dying to play more ;)

Don't be surprised if I run over the hour tomorrow anyway, hah.

Cheers for all the posters and stuff ya sent me as well, as always, appreciated and entertaining.

Night.

Uploading..

Uploading the Sunday Shout Out #1 video (SSO).. however, I HIGHLY suspect problems will arise with part 2 onwards, because it's using footage from all over my hard drives, in all kinda different codecs, so something is gonna go sour :P

First part seems fine, but as I say, the second part+ may be dodgy so they may trail behind.

*Update*
Man i've got Premiere pretty well sussed now.. as soon as part 2 gave me a problem, I switched the rendering method to one i'd setup a while back that I thought could probably handle it, and sure enough, it worked fine.. it made the filesize of each video slightly bigger, but still under YT's limit..

Every parts queued and uploaded/uploading now, enjoy dudes.. well, that's if you don't mine 3 parts of ramble. :P

1000 Hits

Damn, 1k already? nice.. I only set this up what, 3-4 days ago?

Cheers dudes.. not too long before 1k subs on YT as well (well, maybe another month or two), which is the milestone i'm after atm.

I've said a few times that i'm not overly concerned about the subscriber number, but I do want that 4 digit sub number for sure :] same goes for the video count, 4 digits please haha.

Sunday Shout Out #1 Done

Just finished the recording.. it's helluva long though by comparison to last weeks.

I ain't sure atm, but I think it's gonna be about 4 parts, daaaaamn son.

Gonna take about an hour or so before it starts uploading to YT i'd estimate, and another 40-60 mins after before it starts becoming available.

Looks like i'm gonna need an entirely new playlist just for these Sunday vids ;)

Morning Dudes..

Morning.. bit late posting on the blog this morning, i've actually been up a few hours, but i've been busy changing the YT BG pic, gathering/renaming all the posters for the Sunday vid and some various other stuff.

Bloody Firefox had a rare brain fart overnight and delayed part 7 as well.. growl!

Gonna go record the fore mentioned vid after i've had a quick smoke.. I need one after spending the last 40 odd minutes trawling through videos and comments, hunting down the names so I can credit people for their posters.. I still couldn't find names for 2 of them though :( i'll have to credit them in the video description if/when they comment taking credit for it.

That's mainly my fault though.. i'm gonna start putting people's name in the filename as I download the pics in future, easier for me, and makes sure people get the credit properly.

G'Night..

Well, I had another part give me the same error as part 2, but once again, a re-render fixed it.. strange ass error really.

All the parts are rendered and uploading/queued as I type, and i'm gonna get some sleep :)

Quite a productive day really, got an entirely new PSX emulator working (and as anyone that's tried using a PSX emu will tell you, it ain't exactly 'load up and go' friendly) including a new set of video/sound plugins AND got hypercam to capture with Xvid even quicker than before.. i'd be surprised if I lose a frame ever again with the settings it's on now, and the apparent drop in quality isn't even noticeable.

Night dudes.. another Sunday shout out video tomorrow with all the posters etc, and I -may- even throw in another hour of MGS.. we'll see how it goes, no rush.

Too good to be true..

*Update: A re-render did fix things, and it's uploading now :P*
I knew things were going too well.. VirtualDub is like the most solid program ever, i've NEVER had a single crash or problem with it..

Well, it's crashing at 50 odd percent when converting the 2nd part of MGS.. apparently Huffy (im converting to divx, it rendered via Premiere as huffy just fine) is using out of bounds memory and blah blah blah whatever buddy.

Gonna try re-render part 2 again and see if that helps, if not, i'll have to output it as something different.. maybe trusty old wmv again.

Either way, part 2 -may- be a little bit delayed (uploading wise).. i'm hoping it's only part 2, and that it'll be sorted soon.

Oops?

I'm screwing around doing an idea someone gave me for a blog link in the videos (which I ain't even adding today lol).. and I kinda lost track of time ;)

I'm rendering the first part of todays video now.. soz about that haha.. it'll be uploading within the next 15 minutes or so, along with the rest following steady behind it.

As I said earlier, it's MGS, and it should be around 7 parts (it is).. bit of a trial run today, kinda glad I started Saturday rather than on Monday, cos it took me todays hour just to figure out the damn controls.

The votes are in!

Well, Metal Gear Solid took it, inching out RE3 by a incredibly small margin of 6 votes.

Cheers to everyone that voted, apparently 75 votes were registered.. helluva lot more than I expected being honest.

Y'know what? I think i'm just gonna dive in there today as well.. i've pondered and dithered about what game to do today, and being honest, there's no real reason I can't start a main new game on whatever day it currently is.

So MGS it is.. fear not if you didn't get the game ya wanted (PE1/SH1/RE3), as ALL those games are next in line..

Considering RE3 was so close, it WILL be done next, as I know a lot of ya want it. SH1 and PE1 were very close with each other, but both myself and some other people voiced their desire for PE1 slightly louder than SH1, so PE1 will be third in line, with SH1 bringing up the rear.

We'll see what comes after that, but that's the current schedule.

Time to get my ass utterly handed in MGS.. no joke, i've played MGS games no more than like 2 hours in my life, it really is gonna own me hard ;)

Alright Dudes..

Morning.. i've been playing around with a few games for todays videos.. there's no lack of choice, nor need to rush one game over another, but I think i'd prefer something that I can use hypercam with.

Granted, I can use hypercam with anything I can force into window mode, but I get the very strong suspicion that Fraps is the better tool for the job if normal 3D is involved (PSX emu doesn't count).. I just did a test run with hypercam on a 3D game, and it dropped about 10% of the frames.

Now, to cut it some slack, the game I tested was probably the most intensive game to record I can think of, in full detail :p But i'll stick with fraps when it comes to 3D stuff anyway.

Emu/Windowed stuff = Hypercam
Full screen 3D directx/opengl type affairs = Fraps

Problem with Fraps though, is it refuses to record FMV on some games.. I guess that could always be remedied by recording the FMV separately (with Hypercam) and dumping it ontop of the Fraps footage when it's blacking out the FMV sequence(s).

Oh well, i've still got about another 90 minutes before I start, and i'm gonna grab a breakfast pizza while continuing to mull over the options.

As I said to begin with, there's no rush, nor big deal to pick one game over another.. i'll just go with what records best, and what I think's gonna be fun for 60-90 minutes of play.

Friday, 28 March 2008

G'Night..

Gonna have a sleep and a think about what game i'll use as 'filler' for tomorrow.. I have a strong suspicion it'll be a snes/genesis game, but it could be something entirely outta the blue.. maybe TF2, maybe Dawn of War, maybe something completely random.. should be fun doing 1 solid routine game during the week like RE etc, a random filler Saturday, and the shoutout vid on Sunday.

Night.. though i'll probably wake up in 4 hours, sigh ;)

Ah way..

gonna be away now till very late tonight/early tomorrow morning (my time) while I visit someone in hospital again, then get some sleep afterwards.. but every part to today's videos are queued and uploading.

enjoy dudes, and i'll try reply to everything once i'm around again.

Uploading..

First part's rendered and uploading.. i'm working on the rest (i believe there'll be about 9/10 again) as I type this.

Man, I got back in about an hour ago, and the bus home kinda made me laugh/be disgusted.

I sat down, and literally no more than 5 seconds after, some dude burped literally right over my shoulder from the seat behind.. not even an 'excuse me' escaped his uncouth mouth, infact I suspect he was actually quite proud.

Now, I don't have much room to talk, because i've been known to unleash many a burp with pride, but not around other people, and certainly not without an 'excuse me' if so.

I gave a sharp stare as I turned my head.. if the time had been a couple hundred years earlier, I would have demanded a duel to punish the bastard. I wouldn't have killed him, but i'd have injured him for enough days so that he could reflect upon his poor manners.

Upon standing up to get off at my stop, I came to a further realization.. it wasn't a dude, it was a girl.

Hard to tell around here sometimes, and people wonder why I don't even attempt to get a girlfriend with gems like that being 99% of the available pool here.

Resident Evil 2 finished

Well, it's been a great game, and a MUCH better experience playing it through fully this time than when I played it originally.. I seriously did enjoy it.

Bit of a beast of rambling at the end though guys, like 30+ minutes worth gah, I told ya not to encourage it ;)

I'm going down town atm while I convert the xvid to wmv (takes about 50 minutes), i'll be back not that long after, and i'll start splitting/uploading then.. a lot earlier than usual huh?

Here's todays comment notes:

SA8TER - Lol...The last hour of RE2 HTSF on my 18th birthday the 28th. :D
beverleysimpson - You're the best! Anyway! I just wondered if you'd give us a wee shout in one of your rambles! If not that's totally ok! I saw a guy with a wee green Ronnie pouch today on the underground, I had to elbow jambo and wink. Take care! Love!! Bev xxx
fitzybhoy/kieran - will you be covering resident evil 3 nemesis by any chance?? please keep attacking the resident evil genre as im fecking loving the videos. shame you cant cover the gamecube games as they are the best from the series.looking forward to watching some more!
NeonFiraga - p.s. some final questions. How do you finance your gaming lifestyle? How did you come up with a name like 'overthegun'? anf finally, did you see my comment on your page "[H2][P7](Leon) 'Get that scum, make him pay ... for my dry cleaning!(kaplow)'"? + Veoh TV
darthtenchi - What is Mr.X?
Termin - You know OTG if you're having trouble finding things on WordPad hit CTRL-F and then type in a key word, like in this case "Ada" (or however it's spelled) would have gotten you to the post quicker more then likely.
wam - ohh and give meh a shout out because i said something witty even though i didnt... shh the rest of the subscribers will never KNOW
russianky - ok, you wanna play rough? ok.. say hello to my little friend! - cool I got my name mentioned three times in one part, and btw its Russian ky, not Russian K, FYI ;)
linkslayer - o and btw, u pronounce herb like erb
monkeymac - OTG, I think you are a god considering the rate that you are producing your videos. KEEP EM COMING GRANNY!
obimikel - You didnt fool me with thinking about just the one death, i read your blog entry and ''i'm sure people will find these deaths entertaining anyway..'', so there were more lol
wam - fuck yeah im not gonna lie it kinda got scary in the end i though he was gonna punch through the secreen and say FUCKKING CALL MY VGLOGS A VANERIAL DISEASE WILL YAH" and start violently beating the shit out of me in the normal otg manner
PandaSquared - HA! I told you. The fact that you didn't have any problems uploading this set was entirely due to your death prone playing style today. Someone sapped your pr0 ninja skills, man.
Termin - The camera angles and poison were killing you OTG? Silly me I thought it was the monsters....
Pinkfurryone - 4 deaths in one 'hour'... Don't worry, OTG, we don't doubt your bill-paying ninja skills, though it'd be nice to see you use them on another video to prove you have them.
DrakeVonKat - But the last time he did that, he caused an earthquake in England...
darthtenchi - So OTG who is more "the man"? nemesis or wesker

shoutouts - weirdnamemike, skittleshot narutosensei, paladincs, gamecrunk, yunaofsnakes, finalfoo, kirk, actizn, tnno, lionheart, dragon, osaka, kyofoxfire, atomaround, lulzorking, gromph, 36kornbullets, spartanxc9, thequickdraw, link

Hope ya enjoyed this weeks videos dudes, and expect a random filler game on Saturday then the Sunday Shoutout video on Sunday (gasp!), before starting a new game on Monday.

Alright Dudes..

Dunno what the deal is recently, but im struggling to sleep more than like 4-5 hours.. it's weird, cos I used to sleep like 10-12 with ease. Ah well, all the more time to get stuff done I guess.

I'm gonna go record what I hope is Leon's final hour.. after which i'll set it off converting to wmv and go down town and treat myself to a fry up, think i've earnt one recently.. mmm breakfast.

Better get a move on anyway, considering I still need to gather notes/record, it could be like 10am before i'm getting ready to go down town, and I ain't missing that breakfast :P

Oh, it looks like MGS is ahead on the poll.. surprisingly, RE3 is giving it a run for its money outta nowhere though.. when I recorded yesterdays video, it wasn't even close.. tis now though.. should be interesting to see what happens.

G'Night..

Title says it all, vids are up/uploading, enjoy.

Thursday, 27 March 2008

Uploading..

Well, some parts are going available already, and the rest bar the last 2 parts are queued up (which are rendering atm)..

Certainly took a while today hah, but I guess 10 or so parts is gonna take a while :P I would say it makes up for yesterday's lateness but based on what happened, I ain't sure ;)

Then again, dying is usually entertaining.. i'm sure people will find these deaths entertaining anyway.. not a happy chappy ;)

At least everything rendered without a hitch today.. 100% perfect first time, yay.. hopefully it's the end of any screen capture shenanigans, so I can focus my attention on other things instead of trying to get correct renders.

Hour 4 done..

Sigh, get to the roflcopter, cos I ran over hardcore today.. not via rambling either, but you'll see soon enough :p

Expect something like TEN parts, jesus ;)

After RE2 gets done, i'm gonna stop using the H1 / H2 / H3 etc naming conventions.. it'll be D1 / D2 / D3 etc, for 'Day' rather than 'Hour'.. it means if I run over wildly like today, the hour stuff doesn't appear weird.. I mean technically, this ain't hour 4, it's probably more like hour 5.5, and with todays shit, it puts it into like hour 7 for tomorrow, despite the fact it'll be called 'Hour 5' ;)

Here's todays comment notes as well;

36KornBullets - I have been playing Resident Evil for the DS and it seems like the ammo for it is rubbish been around the place only got like 1 bereta clip and it gave me 2 for the beggining + wanted shoutout
SkittlesShott - lol ada makes erotic noises when hit XD also lulz the zombie barf part only further proves my theory that otg is a sadist XD
PandaSquared - Son of a...I paused the video RIGHT, like half a second before you revealed your treachery and checked my set up. CURSE YOU, OTG, CURSE YOU!
darthtenchi - OTG...to tell the truth it killz me a bit when you DO save. When i play games i will save once in a blue moon or when i just stop playing. Never while im playing im a fast pace kind of guy saving only slows me down lawlz
russianky - thanks for the shout out, what took you so long, lol - Ada, the only bitch in RE2 that knows how to stay with OTG
SkittlesShott - lulz the zombie barf part only further proves my theory that otg is a sadist XD
Actizn - You n' Annete would make a great couple. Fountains of sympathy.
SA8TER - Oh if it helps. Theres a cancel button on the Resident Evil controls so when you pick up a file all you need to do is press the cancel button and the file is picked up and no need for scrolling. It can also be done when you want text to go by faster.
Termin - I can't believe the used the Jaws maneuver on the croc....this just proves "guns don't kill people maneuvers kill people" as Eddie Izzard said.
Link - Shout out to Greyshot for me OTG? I got him watching the videos and he calls you a modern genius.
lionheart / linkslayer - 'Spliting headache', oh sweet life and her witty puns. -
lionheart - From the way your talking OTG, it sounds like your the 1 who wants to get a room with Ada. We wont judge you m8.
TheQuickdraw - That shotgun is practically an artillery piece now. Did it just blow up part of his upper body along with his head?
LukeDShadow - Nice to see you cower behind Ada shouting "Ada. Ada. ADA! Shoot!" Roflmao. At least it saved ammo huh? - It seriously does count tho. It's not like the game hears you say "that doesn't count" and gives you your life/health back.
narutosensei - Hi Liam I just wanted to add I think you lose points too your rank when you reload your gun in the inventory screen, so I have heard. - Ment to say that the Weapons box is in the Lab basement area. Actually I think it is a locker There is a room that connects to the Labratory where you finish Sherry's Vaccine.
Pinkfurryone - I have a suggestion for an RPG... Golden Sun for the GBA. It's got a good storyline, and the only fault is the RNG thing which you can exploit to get items over and over.
crunchbiteness - i found that the pc verions of ff7 was really fast for me. the only bad thing is that ur music is all midi bullshit but i patched it and downloaded the real music for it and it was sweet. - another excellent ramble, cept i still didnt get a shoutout :( *goes cries in corner*
SkittlesShott - that OHHHH YEAHHHH was fucking hilarous even if it didn't fit XD
russianky - fucking Sonic games rule and thanks for shouting out to me twice mate, and btw I first came across your HTSF vids on portal, fucking funniest shit, Ball what you do'en?? ;)
obimikel - Hey man, Reading your blog and i see the poll for the next game, it would be nice to see a metal gear playthrough, cause some bits have just totally confused me in recent years, i for one would enjoying watching but you got some good contenders for other games, tricky mate.
YunaofSnakes - and the best Resident Evil game is nemsis just becuse the town gets nuked lol`` <-- didnt paste that last time
lionheart - OTG a ps3 fanboy?! Uve lost a subsriber m8!!
linkslayer - dont forget about the fingerprint, and when u get in there are 2 lickers in there. if i remember correctly there is a machine gun clip it has like 50% or something?

You feel rested...

Damn I felt the burn yesterday.. some decent sleep has rested me up nicely though.

Gonna grab some quick breakfast, then dive into Leon's Hour 4.. there's enough comments now to do it, albeit not quite as many as usual, obviously due to the lateness of uploading the vids yesterday.

I gotta say, it's a huge relief knowing I can record the videos with next to 0 dropped frames (hence no desync), and have a good certainty that Premiere will accept the xvid-->wmv conversion and output correctly.. that is, until it decides to throw me some random weird error ;)

I mean, i've gone through about 5 or 6 different capture/editing codec configurations over the past month, all of which worked fine until one day it decides not to.

Annoys me does that, because pcs should never do random stuff, they do what they're told, hence randomness should never be a factor..

but it is ;)

Oh..

and now everythings queued to upload, i'm gonna get some more well earned sleep :]

it'll give people time to comment as well, otherwise if i start recording H4 within the next few hours, it's gonna be a sparse amount of stuff to mention..

i really don't like the idea of doing stuff the old way anymore ;)

Success, and the video capture/edit/upload routine

My god, finally.. I resorted to my old tactic of converting footage to .wmv..

Despite .wmv being from Microsoft's loins, you have to give it credit.. it's fast, non bloaty, good quality and incredibly compatible with every single video editor out there.. you can edit it, package it as .wmv, or like i've done, convert the master footage of a codec that Premiere will outright refuse to play ball with to .wmv.

I'm of the belief that Satan himself programmed Premiere, because despite how much i've become comfortable in Premiere and enjoy it's insane power gap from itself and Vegas, the damn thing acts like a teething baby.

The only thing that will stop Premiere's loud and violent crying is either raw .avi (even Huffy, one of if not THE best lossless codec, still gets bowled over), or strangely, .wmv files.

I've no idea why Premiere does such a horrific job with EVERY codec almost.. even if you get everything into Premiere with no problems (such as audio not showing or wild desync), that doesn't guarantee the damn thing export correctly.. it'll either error at some random point, or say it rendered fine when in reality, it was nowhere even close.

Give it a .wmv though, and it's as happy as a pig in shit.. renders quickly and perfectly every time..

So, hopefully, i've got the codec routine down now.. it's taken a while, but I think it's as good and as fast as i'm gonna get if i'm wanting to use Premiere to edit, but not spend decades converting/exporting in raw uncompressed .avis.

The routine from start to finish;
1:Hypercam Capture - Using Xvid on TURBO mode.. my god, could turbo mode be any better? there's like zero loss of quality, and even after like 90 minutes of solid recording, it'll only skip about 3 frames.. 1 tenth of a second. That's pretty much zero desyncing (desyncing being the BANE of video capture, easily sorted, but takes time and ain't quite as true as it should be), as 3 seconds over the space of 90 minutes is hard even for a computer to notice, a human couldn't tell even if it was 5x+ that, and even then, it'd be barely noticeable, and ONLY noticeable as the video nears completion.. you rule Xvid, no birth control for us, i'll have yer kids.

2: Xvid to wmv Conversion - Funnily enough, you could use (and I have many times in the past) Windows Movie Maker to convert any footage to wmv.. i'd recommend downloading the codec itself (wmv9VCMsetup.exe) and using VirtualDub or a similar program though, as they'll be slightly quicker and you'll have a lot more control.. but for a program shipped with Windows by default, that'll convert your Premiere killing (Premiere's fault not the footage) footage to something it'll happily chew on, it's all good.

3: Premiere editing, splitting and exporting - So we've finally got footage that Premiere likes, and will export without concern.. add in the intros, fades, end of parts, adjust the volume upwards, and bam, yer ready to split the footage into 10ish minute chunks (cut at points with no talking, feeling free to cliffhanger mercilessly if possible) and render out using Huffy.
Huffy is a belting codec.. in it's full mode, it's lossless (no loss of quality), in it's fastest mode, the difference is near impossible to distinguish and BLAZINGLY fast.. you would not believe footage could be that big, looking that good, yet rendering that quickly. If there was an award for best codec, Huffy would be a top 2 candidate, and if it was for a lossless codec award, Huffy would destroy the competition without breaking a sweat.
The way I like to go about splitting/rendering the 6+ parts every day is to get the first 10 minute part, and jump directly to step 4.. this allows you to get a part uploading onto YouTube as fast as possible, leaving you free to render the rest of the videos whilst you're gaining upload progress. I'll do this with both parts 1 and 2, and once they're step 3 and 4'ed, and queued to upload, i'll split the entirety of the remaining footage into parts in one shot, then start to render out each part one after the other before proceeding to step 4.

4: Converting the parts so they'll fit on YouTube - There's a 1 gig limit on YouTube now, but i'd not recommend uploading like 400-1000 meg videos, when the main restriction is the 11 minute time limit. You'll waste your own time, just to have YT butcher down the video (and there's still no clarification on what videos are eligible for the high quality mode switch yet) and that's not factoring in the insane uploading times (if you've got a good connection fair enough, but my max upload speed is 30kb/sec).
Divx, Xvid, and Wmv are the weapons of choice here.. personally, I use Divx as you can easily configure the bitrate up or down to generate the exact file size you wish. For a 10 minute video, anywhere between 60-99 meg is what i'd usually shoot for, depending on the footage type and whether it needs that slight boost in video quality or not.
The application of choice to do this in is up to you, but id NOT recommend Premiere, as it's output in ANY of those codecs is horrific at best.. I would again recommend VirtualDub though.. get used to that program, it's your survival knife and will always be trusty and faithful if you keep it sharp.

5: Uploading to YouTube - Ironically, after you've got all your videos all nice and finished, this last step is the most time intensive, and depending on your connection, could bring your net browsing to a grinding halt while your upload chokes the shit outta stuff.
Use the multi part uploader (goto upload, goto multi part uploader at the bottom right, install what it tells you if you haven't already), it'll save you a LOT of time and effort AND it'll stop you slitting yer wrists if you accidentally close the window, as it's like a download manager in retaining your upload progress.. without a doubt the best feature added by YT in a long time for people like me.
I use a .txt file, with the basic template for each videos name, description, and tags, so that it makes things a lot quicker and painless, for example:

tags: resident evil one re1 directors cut chris psx pc capcom
description: *Contains Strong Language*
[Set 3, Part 6/6, of How To Successfully FAIL at Resident Evil 1 (Chris)]

Enjoy!
title: [SET3][P6] Resident Evil 1 (Chris) [HTSF]

obviously changing each set/part number per video.. it just makes things a lot quicker/cleaner when you're simply changing a number, rather than retyping the damn thing every video. Edit, then copy paste ftw.

6: Playlisting and video response linking - An absolute must, playlists make things a LOT easier for new people that come across your videos, and video response linking in the logical order through the parts makes it easier for everyone, including yourself when checking comments.

Well guys, there ya go.. i've missed out a few bits there, such as me spending time taking notes in order to do shoutouts/mentions, but that's entirely down to your own style rather than a general practice.

As i've typed this incredibly lengthy post, i've managed to render all but one of eight parts of Leon's hour 3..

I mentioned earlier that Premiere was now as happy as a pig in shit.. well, so am I.

Late Vids

I would say IRL commitments knocked me off schedule, but I woke up early to make sure everything was rendered/queued to upload BEFORE I had to go, as I knew i'd be tired now..

Unfortunately, Premiere decided to throw some insane wobbler for hours on end, refusing to render out the first part correctly.. sync was the least of the issues, this was serious hardcore fuck uppery.. but it'd wait the full 15 minute duration, say it was complete, but when you went to view it, it'd be knackered.. so the 3-4 hours i'd planned to use getting everything rendered/queued got entirely destroyed, leaving me with serious wasted time, no time left today before sleeping to get them out and still not even a first part rendered.

So, the vids will be very, very late today, meaning if I do manage to get them out later on, there's a good chance that I might have to start Thursday's videos before a lot of people even get to comment Wednesdays..

Sorry dudes, believe me, it wasn't intentional ;)

Leon H3 recording done

Title says it all.. i'm in the process of splitting it up in Premiere, but i'm gonna have a test first and get those 'End of Part' bits back :p

Can't fuckin believe they vanished yesterday.. damn you Huffy.

I seriously screwed up today though with finale rambling, like 10-15 minutes wasn't bad enough, I went on for 25 god damn minutes today at the end.. jesus!

What started as a 5 minute filler ramble got outta control and lasted 25.. oops.

Not that anyone really complains (though they might/should today), but it's like an extra 45 minutes work for me lol ;)

Here's todays comment notes:

LukeDShadow - I've enjoyed all your videos. I've watch like, all 219 in 5days :-) Can you give out a shout out to "Skillasaur" for putting me on to your brilliant videos :D
LukeDShadow - So don't go Rambo but kill what you need. In between todays kill fest and your normal ammo heavy self. :P
Ow and I love the fact you always get hit and say "That doesn't count" always makes me think.. Well, actually it does. :)
darthtenchi - OTG it would be easy to forget lurker from licker. plus the lickers lurk around.
Osaka - In RE2 Ada Wong is a spy working for the man himself, Albert Wesker. She got close with an Umbrella employee, John, and became his girlfreind so she could get her hands on the G Virus for Wesker. She gets it, and escapes the city before the nuke hits.
Termin - Oh, and I played it back. Not only does the zombie change his shirt and pants but he also changes his hair color too.
Termin - I also think it's funny when he says that he's not afraid of Mr. X but whimpers when he thinks he's coming. :p
Sukichi - wants FF7
Russianky - love you vids mate, can I have a shoutout? ronyes or roll ups, lol got to love a good Brit with a sense of homour
Pinkfurryone - OTG, I'd like to request a shoutout, with this message: To all people who are JUST going to say 'First, whoo' or something similar, don't even comment.
Kirk06 - Bring back HTSF. VFuck the VGlog
Obimikel - Alright dude, love the videos man, Shout out for me (Lukas)
Jambo - yea it was me that was saying about, it being 6 options for that puzzle
Wam - not even close.. lol and vglog sounds like some sort of vanerial disease dude htsf is the shit
Daskraut - not an IE fan
Babakova - Ive done the otg voice as well, ' yes I WILL eat the lasagna' -- 'yes I WILL shampoo my hair' etc.
YunaofSnakes - me i find your rambles most enjoyable it really makes a differents to hear something real and not scripted other than the notes you make lol and the best Resident Evil game is nemsis just becus the town gets nuked lol
Weirdnamemike - Gimme a shoutout. I'ma see if OTG can give 3 in a row.
narutosensei77 - gave a lot of info on RE2 in PM
Actizn - I hate how Ada gets to deal with near harmless zombies while Sherry has to deal with dogs, who chase you mercilessly and are a bitch to dodge.
Lionheart - Hmm, these OTG rambling moments are quite amusing, totally off topic, but still pretty cool.
DrakeVonKat - Poor OTG, another woman who won't stay near him and likely get owned by Lickers...
Link - Yeah. I liked it when you pr0 dodged around groups of zombies. save your ammo.
SA8TER - loads of herb info
Fetteroy - You can change the setting of your gun if you don't wanna waste away all of your handgun bullets with the burst fire
SpartanXC9 - ha, the spider started laughing at you once is spitted on you

Video icons on YT

I dunno how it happens so often, but with RE I kept getting black screens/doors as the icon for quite a few videos.. now you can select from 3 (unlike a while back where it was only 1), but the damn things haven't been updating recently regardless of what I do.

They finally updated an hour ago, yay :p better late than never I guess, though it'd be nice if they'd update a few hours at most after you change them.

Gonna grab a shower/nip out 30 minutes, then i'll record todays vids.

Comment Notes for H2 Leon

Actizn - Herbs and Mixed herbs don't count, IIRC. Just F-aids.
russianky - hey if you don't mind but in any of the next parts can you say"say hello to my little friend" if and when you ever get the machine gun, I'll mail you a pack a smokes + wanted shout out
Jambo - hey why is this not down a HTSF video, just wondered :S keep up the good work, can i have a shout out plz :P
KyoFoxfire - It's not called "How To Successfully Fail" anymore? :(
Skittleshot - lol sometimes i think otg is a sadist XD also i think leon can use headshots
Weirdnamemike - Gimme a shoutout yo! Double O-G Gangstaz! But, it's not called HTSF?
WarkillerX - That would also make sense to why the bullets would be in the middle of no where in the fire xD. By the way, i just finished yesterday's viewing, of 5 hours straight of vids, from hour 1 to hour 6.5. I got to say, i love how you try to give us all th e possible recording. I thank you a lot and i say, keep them coming they are amazing vids.. and now to finish this hour up. BTW don't forget to shout me out ;) and answer my question about how they use the green herb. Do they eat them?
Termin - Ugh, OTG you're killing me because you don't save. I'm a very careful gamer so I save like every 15 minutes or so just in case something happens and every time you pass a save point I die abit more...
Darthtenchi - RCPD: All our cops look the same ;)
Osaka - Sorry for the shit advice OTG, I didnt realize that there was THAT much difference between the PS1 version and the N64 version. But now that you mention it, the N64 version does seem a lot easyer now. Anyway, sorry again dude.
Actizn - Files give you rankin' points.
Gamecrunk - A roll-up? I heared that when u on a smoke break:P
DaLigger - At :24 secs your ammo was 13:37 =O! Just wanted to point that out (:
SA8TER21 - I don't think that Herbs effect rank. Im 90% sure they don't. And I mentioned the Deagle parts like 5 times. :P
KyoFoxfire - If you're interested, you can get the special key for the locker by going out the front door of the police station and going to the right. There's a staircase there, and at the bottom is a zombified Brad Vickers from RE1 (He was the helicopter pilot at the end).
Nicholas - i'm surprised the zombie cops still have their hats on...
monkeymac3 - You shit ur pants? :D + wanted shout out
Pinkfurryone - Hey, OTG. Want a challenge? Play the REmake of RE1, it's DESIGNED to mess with people who're used to the original. That'd mess with ya, alright. lmao.Termin - Oooh "torso zombie" I thought you've been calling them "tosser zombies".
LukeDShadow - I think thats the first time I've ever heard you say your low on bullets. What happened to saving them all? :P
Link - Has anyone else found themselves talking like Liam IRL? Today i was moving the trash can, and a pot was in my way and i said, in my best subconscious OTG voice, "Fuck off, Pot"
Metafour - Your uploads are getting quicker - Not that I'm complaining of course. :D
SA8TER - Those plugs go into a panel that is in the sewers
Atomaround - I have a tip. When you play RE3. DO NOT play easy mode. Prefers HTSF as does WarkillerX
LukeDShadow - I've enjoyed all your videos. I've watch like, all 219 in 5days :-) Can you give out a shout out to "Skillasaur" for putting me on to your brilliant videos :D
Lionheart - The main problem with utube is theres so much bollocks with originality, who did something first, are people actors, then others who just scream out for attension in any form.Thats why I like OTG's vids, there just simple, very entertaining, and most od all he doesnt have anything to prove. (If the dick munching gets to much just lemmie know and ill shut up like).
Overtures - The RE ones were more of a 'VGlog' and I agree with the logic behind the renaming. Maybe a further separation in naming? If we see VGlog we know its a play through, and HTSF is more of a, 'alright lets see a horribly crash and burn'.
Finalfoo - what you said about the subscibers is true. Chris crocker has a legion of subscribers but most of them watch his vids just to laff at him. And his videos are shit.
Darthtenchi - hmmm How do i picture OTG......no clue i think he must look like a male.....Watch him turn out to look like a female just because i said that lawlz
Atomaround - Heh.. I see him as a guy with glasses and a goatee. Short hair..I dunno...
DrakeVonKat- ...man, YouTube needs an edit function for these comments. Can I get a shoutout, please? =D
Fugeboy - anyway could you turn the contrast up pleese so its far more easy to see things (p.s i have dcd disorder I:E bad spelling pleese forgive me)
Wam - No mention in last hour nothing meaningful to say

Let Battle Commence

Well, I started a blog ages upon ages ago, but never really bothered to keep it updated, which annoyed me a little.. at the time I was being distracted with progressing in Vegas, and the blog just skipped further and further down the old priorities..

However, with the recent change to the format of my YT videos, I figured a blog would make a good addition.. there's a lot of extra crap that I don't really go into detail about because not everyone's really interested, but some are, and i'm interested in writing it, so here we are.

I'll also be posting the updates of when i'm starting uploading etc, as well as details on the days videos (before and after) including a full list of the exact notes I took from the comments on the previous days videos (used when doing the current day's video for mentions/shoutouts etc).

There'll also be extra stuff, such as the crap i've got up to, which normally i'd not really mention during the videos too.

Should be interesting to see if anyone actually wants to read mountains of text upon the already incredibly lengthy daily videos.. we shall see :)
